Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market * Committed to Excellence

We’re over the moon to be launching a blog. It is about time! After serving the Birmingham community for 35 years, whether it is a daily arrangement, holiday decorating, personal stationery, or full service event design – we are committed to excellence.

In November 1977, Dorothy opened a small flower boutique in a house on Linden Avenue in Homewood. The house included several businesses and our space was approximately twelve by fifteen feet. She purchased work table and a second hand cooler and placed her own sign over the “Ya-hooo! Mountain Dew” logo. Thirty five years later, Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market occupies a 6,000 square feet building in the heart of downtown Homewood.

She has spoken to hundreds of groups about floral arranging over the years, and has even penned two books. She has been a guest demonstrator for Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Her regular television guest appearances include “Talk of Alabama” on ABC 33/40 and “Fox News Sunday” on FOX 6 WBRC-TV. She is in demand as a speaker and instructor at garden clubs, public meetings, and corporate events throughout the South. Some of her personal appearances    include Southern Lady conferences in Destin, Nashville, and Dallas; Art in Bloom at Birmingham Museum of Art and New Orleans Museum of Art; and Callaway Garden School at Callaway Gardens.

Being involved has always been important to Dorothy and we expect that to be no different here. Are you unsure what flowers are available seasonally? Ask us! Unsure of proper etiquette for a particular situation? No worries, we’ll take care of you!
