I feel the best way to lead into this post is to pose the question, “Have you been to Swann Lake Stables?” If you have, then you certainly understand the natural beauty that surrounds any event taking place there. Whether it is an elegant wedding, a laid back rehearsal dinner, or the everyday happenings of a horse stable. If you have not visited this lovely oasis in Birmingham’s backyard, then you are missing out. On top of an amazing location, a beautiful bride, and handsome groom, we also lucked out on Gillian’s exquisite choice of photographers, Kelly Cummings of Spindle Photography. Thanks to her for these photos!
We were fortunate enough to design the wedding of Gillian and Wes last October, who hired planner Neillie Butler of Mariee Ami Weddings. Neillie also manages all bookings at Swann Lake Stables and it is always a pleasure to work with her.
One of the services we offer at Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market is a DIY station. The way it works, is you buy all necessary product from us and we will have a designer instruct you, as well as any of your guests, how to design the bouquet, arrangement, etc. needed. Gillian took us up on this offer by having her bridesmaids design their own bouquets! Each clutch consisted of a mixture of hydrangea, veronica, and English lavender.
Gillian’s luxurious bouquet was created from a textural mixture of white garden roses, berzilla berry, trick dianthus, fiddle head fern fronds, and lambs ear. It was assembled in our shop by a close friend of the family.
Other distinctive features of the wedding included a “ring dog” which served the purpose of a ring bearer, a lounge area which doubled as the smokers section, a swag which hung from the loft area of the stables, and of course the textures continued throughout centerpieces, ceremony decor, and even the entrance to the estate.
Again, it was a pleasure to have designed your wedding day!
