American Village in Montevallo, Alabama is one of our favorite wedding (or event) venues in the greater Birmingham area. Located approximately 30 miles south of Birmingham it is one of the most versatile venues in the area. It features Colonial Chapel which is inspired by one of America’s oldest churches, Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia. With its 100-foot steeple, arched and rounded windows, and its antique wooden pulpit, it will not be a venue your guests forget anytime soon.
The venue also has Liberty Hall, a ballroom that is a replica of the East Wing Ballroom of the White House, and the outside is inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Leanne and Zac chose The Barn to hold their reception. Located atop the hill which overlooks the rest of the property, the exposed wood beams and pine walls create a romantic feel perfect to bring Leanne’s vision for her reception to life.
The wedding was coordinated by local wedding planner Meghan Cease of M Elizabeth Events. The wedding took place in late September which is a wonderful time of year for a wide array of flowers. Designer Justin created an opulent, romantic look using bold pastels.
Leanne wore an ivory A-line dress with a sweetheart neckline and carried a colorful bouquet of pink garden roses, yellow and orange dahlias, coral roses, green hydrangea, peach zinnias, and dusty miller.
Her bridesmaids wore hot pink tea length dresses and carried clutch bouquets of coral roses, peach zinnias, cream spray roses, lavender stock, and dusty miller.
The men of the wedding wore grey suits with pink ties (and in one case a bowtie) and their lapels were adorned with boutonnieres of cream spray roses with a single leaf of dusty miller. Zac’s tie was turquoise and he wore a boutonniere with a pink and peach zinnia (to match Leanne’s bouquet) with dusty miller.
The doors of Colonial Chapel were decorated with grapevine wreaths with floral badges of the same wedding flowers. The wedding palette was carried onto the altar flowers, pew markers, and the reception flowers.
The food was provided by Happy Catering Company, also one of our favorites, while Dreamcakes provided the dessert – a delicious three tiered cake that accented the feel of the reception perfectly.
Thank you again to Leanne and Zac for allowing us to be a part of your wedding day! Another huge thanks to Stephen Devries Photography for allowing us to use your wonderful photos. You can see more of his work at www.stephendevriesweddings.com/.
