Brittany & Chris | Autumn Ridge Ceremony & Reception

It only takes a quick glance at any of the photos from this wedding to realize that it was full of personality and full of color. Brittany and Chris were brought to us by not one, but two, wedding planners we love to work with! Brittany’s best friend and Matron of Honor was Becky Baker of Becky’s Brides. Knowing what all goes into executing a fabulous wedding, Becky brought in another wonderful Birmingham wedding planner, Rachael Grammer, for month of coordination so that she could focus on the duties that only a best friend can provide!

The ceremony and reception were held in the same place, a local home that the owners lease for weddings and receptions called Autumn Ridge. Located on many acres of land, the backdrop is stunning.

Brittany’s bouquet was made up of a colorful palette including hot pink garden roses, cherry brandy roses, Choco cymbidium orchids, craspedia, fuschia spray roses, mango calla lilies, orange and burgundy dahlias with a collar of green hanging amaranthus. The bridal bouquet was wrapped in ivory lace to match her bridal gown, and the bridesmaids bouquets were wrapped in a taupe satin to complement their chocolate satin dresses.

The groomsmen wore khaki suits from Mr. Burch Formal Wear, and their lapels were decorated with mango calla lily boutonnieres. We always like to add something to the groom’s boutonniere from the bridal bouquet, and for Chris’ we chose yellow craspedia, also known as billy buttons.

These days many brides take on do it yourself projects. Brittany decided that she wanted her wedding programs to be very personal and heartfelt, so she made them herself. The programs were made in every color of the rainbow {and every color in between} and were hand tied with ribbon. They coordinated with her wedding perfectly.

The ceremony location at Autumn Ridge is truly remarkable and devastatingly beautiful. The arbor overlooks acres of lush, green land as well as a private lake. Designer Glenn Mask used smilax garland to wrap the columns of the arbor and badges of flowers for a strong impact where it counted — the backdrop of the ceremony. The floral badges, framing in the corners and top of the arbor, were made up of a mixture of cherry brandy roses, green hydrangea, orange and burgundy dahlias, hot pink garden roses, fuschia spray roses, burnt orange alstroemeria, orange snap dragons, deep orange Asiatic lilies, and Bells of Ireland.

Guests moved into the house for the reception. Tables were decorated with ivory linen, a chocolate satin topper, as well as coordinating chair covers with ties. These were provided by Decor to Adore. Brittany repurposed her bridesmaid’s bouquets as centerpieces on some of her guest tables. The other tables were adorned with mounded arrangements also in the coordinating wedding flowers. Each table also included scattered votive candles for a romantic feel, especially as the sun set over the horizon.

Brides are always looking for something new and exciting to bring to their reception that hasn’t ‘been done’ before. Planner Rachael Grammer lent her expertise and suggested a guest book that would hold Chris and Brittany’s attention for years – guests wrote down their ideas and suggestions of things to do and places to go for the newlywed’s future, thus creating their bucket list! Of course, these were written with multicolored sharpies and notepaper! We love this idea!

Guest favors included personalized chocolate koozies with the couple’s name, wedding date, and monogram printed in either lime green or hot pink. The table near the exit included family photos and was decorated with repurposed mother’s bouquets.
